Mary Ann Hack
Mary Ann Hack was the Director of the Indiana Long Term Care Insurance Program (ILTCIP), a unit of the Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP), under the Family and Social Services Administration of the State of Indiana, from November 1995 to February 2005. She was responsible for the continued development and operations of all phases of the ILTCIP including: regulation development, compliance monitoring, insurance policy review, educational materials development, marketing, providing continuing education courses to insurance agents, and providing educational seminars to consumers. She was also the Director of the Medicaid Estate Recovery unit, the Medicaid Medical Review Team, and OMPP Office Administration. From 2000 to 2005, Mary Ann served on the board of the Long Term Care Insurance Educational Foundation, a national organization; as well as on the Indiana Department of Insurance Licensing Exam Committee.
Prior to this position, Mary Ann worked for the Indiana Department of Insurance as State Coordinator of the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). In this capacity, she was responsible for the development and implementation of the senior health insurance counseling program beginning operation in early 1993. This position included recruiting and training volunteers to assist seniors with their Medicare, Medicare Supplement, and Long Term Care insurance questions. She was also responsible for assisting with the regulation of Medicare Supplement and Long Term Care insurance.
Prior to joining State government, Mary Ann worked 5 1/2 years in a nursing home in Indianapolis, providing her with her beginning in the long term care field. Mary Ann holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology & Sociology (1983) and a master's degree in Counseling (1989), both from Indiana University.
